She was the fourth child of

Johnnie Sapp. Virginia was
added to her name later. In
the first four years she was
called “Johnnie V”. She was
registered in school as
Virginia Sapp. Only her
father’s family continued
calling her Johnnie V. She
attended school in Florida,
Georgia and Pennsylvania. In
1945 she attended Poro Beauty
School located at Broad and
Bainbridge Streets in
Philadelphia.
She was a lover
of people, especially
children. She cared for lots
of children and raised

on one job for 22 years as a
presser. She later worked for
the state as a cook in a youth
development center for boys.
She transferred to E.P.P.I.
State Hospital and became
supervisor of the dietary
department for 15 years until
she retired. After retirement
she joined Catholic Charity
Volunteers working with senior
citizens.
She was born
Methodist, and was in the
church all of her life. At age
22, she joined the New Temple
Baptist Church and was
baptized. In 1947 she joined
the Tenth Memorial Baptist
Church under the pastorship of
Rev. Dixon. She was one of the
founding members of Society
For Helping Church which was
started in 1976. She served as
it's first church mother and
as a deacon. Reverend Dr.
Repsie M. Warren is Pastor and
Founder. She attended many
dietary work shops in
Philadelphia, Bucks County,
New York and attended
Pennsylvania State University
in State College,
Pennsylvania.

Holley (Leonard), two
grandsons, four
great-grandchildren of Denver,
Colorado; one brother and two
sisters, Frank Sapp (Elaine)

God saw the road was getting rough
The hill was hard to climb
Then gently closed His loving eyes
And whispered
“Peace
be thine.”
The weary hours the days of
pain,
The sleepless nights have passed,
The ever patient, worn our frame
Has found sweet rest at last.
Acknowledgment
Perhaps you sang a lovely
song, or sat quietly in a chair
Perhaps, you sent a funeral spray. If so, we
saw it there.
Perhaps you spoke the kindest words, as any
friend could say.
Perhaps you weren’t there at all, just
thought of us that day.
What ever you did to console our hearts,
We thank you so much what ever the part.
May God forever bless and keep each one of
you in His tender, loving care.

Special Tribute
I will never forget my
Grandmom Virginia, her loving smile, and her
beautiful laugh. I remember I would always
get excited when my parents would say we were
going to Grandmom's house. Because I came
from a military family, I never got to spend
much time with Grandmom Virginia, but I will
cherish the time I did spend with her.
Her COOKING! I will never
forget her cooking. Grandmom would get up in
the middle of the night and cook for the
family if we were hungry. When I went to
visit her for a little while before going
into the Marine Corp, I thought I was going
to wake up to grits, eggs and bacon, but
little did I know. She said "Boy do you know
how to cook?", and I said "Yes Grandmom".
Then she said "Well boy get in there and cook
your own breakfast". What I learned from her
that day was not to sit back and wait for
someone else to do things for me that I can
do for myself. She taught me lots of other
things, too numerous to mention now, but I
will make sure I pass them down to her great
grand-daughter Raechalle.
Grandmom you will always be
loved and in our hearts forever. We will miss
you.
Much Love from the Rocky
Mountains of Denver, Colorado,
Lenny, Cassandra, NaTashia &
Raechalle

Grandmom Virginia you will be missed very
much. You adopted our family as your own, and
we love you for that. Your spirit will
continue to guide us throughout our days.
Mom Holley, our love and prayers go out to
you in your time of sorrow. Always focus on
the good times and the laughter. We will
always be here for you as you have always
been here for us. My shoulders and my ears
are always available at anytime. May you have
a peaceful journey home.

The Brunts - Sophia, Tony, James and
Breauna

Resolution from Denver
Letter of
Resolution
July 21, 2004
We the Pastor, Elders,
Deacons, and Members of the Lowry Community
Christian Church resolve the following to the
family of Virginia Sapp.
We salute Virginia Sapp
and bid her a fond farewell. We resolve and
recognize that nothing could be said to
prepare you for such a loss. As you grieve
and seek answers for this tragic loss, seek
solace knowing that only the earthen vessel
is gone. Sister Virginia is in the arms of
her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Be it
resolved that a loving one from us has gone.
Be it resolved that we bow in humble
submission to the will of God, who doeth all
things well. Our prayers are with you and may
the Lord bring peace and solace to your
hearts.
We resolve to our dear
Sister Shirley Holley, Brother Leonard Holley
and their family that Sister Virginia has
only left you for a while and we believe with
great assurance that you will see her again.
We resolve that God in
his infinite wisdom doesn’t make any
mistakes. He needed a beautiful rose in His
garden and He called Sister Virginia home. There is no more pain, only happiness, and
eternal rest. May you find comfort in God’s
words, “I will never leave you nor forsake
you and Look to the hills from whence cometh
your help, your help cometh from the Lord.”
Whereas we, the Lowry
Community Christian Church resolve that Lord
Jesus has returned and received Sister
Virginia unto Him and through grace, He has
given His servant rest in that place where
all saints dwell. Receive the peace of the
Lord Jesus Christ and allow Him to be your
strength.
Humbly submitted,
Lowry Community
Christian Church
Reverend Larry Z. Brown,
Pastor |
